FERRATUM WORLD RX OF RĪGA-LATVIA DRIVERS PARADE HELD IN THE CENTER OF RIGA

With the beginning of the school year on September 1, residents and guests of Riga city had a unique chance to see FIA World Rallycross Championship new electric era cars in the heart of the Riga city in the Riga Town Hall Square, as well as to meet Ferratum World RX of Rīga-Latvia competitors.

This year, the FIA World Rallycross Championship uses fully electric cars, which are slowly becoming the new normal in cities. All of the people gathered in the centre of Riga had a unique opportunity to meet FIA World Rallycross Championship drivers, take photos, get autographs and see their new cars.

In the ceremony, which happened in the Riga Town Hall Square and was also visited by the mayor of Latvia’s capital city Mārtiņš Staķis, Ferratum World RX of Rīga-Latvia competitors shared their thoughts about the preparation and the mood before the event. Also, they had a chance to get known with the Latvian cultural heritage, enjoying the performance by choir Balsis.

Throughout the event each driver chose Latvian power signs, which can also be stick on the car. First to pick one was last year’s champion Johan Kristoffersson, who chosen “Ūsiņš” sign. His team mate Ole Christian Veiby took “Jumis”. Let’s see if the Latvian luck symbol will help the Norwegian in the Biķernieki circuit.

“Auseklis” or “Morning star” went to Niclas Gronhölm, whose yellow car is shining just like a morning start. Gronhölm’s team mate Klara Andersson also chosen a sign connected with light – “Jāņa sign”. “Māra cross” connects with fire, so we are waiting for a hot performance by Timmy Hansen. His brother Kevin chosen “God’s sign”. Championship rookie Gustav Bergström took “Austra tree”, while three Latvian drivers chosen their signs as last. Jānis Baumanis got “Zalktis”, “Mārtiņš sign” went to Ronalds Baldiņš, but Roberts Vītols took “Moon sign”.

After the meeting with fans, drivers got into their cars, allowing spectators to see them in action. With sun going down, drivers went over Stone bridge to take some photos together on AB dam, before the Ferratum World RX of Rīga-Latvia action starts in Biķernieki circuit on September 3 and 4.
